At the end of the 19th century, Britain experienced a huge puzzle craze. I managed to pick up a number of the puzzles famous during that period in flea markets, despite their rarity. Based on these original puzzles from Britain’s famous puzzle period, this is one that we have successfully revived in its new form. The key word here is “antlers”. Can you free the antlers… and then put them back together again?

The Radix is a puzzle known for both its monumental looks and somewhat organic styling and movement. The entire unit gives off an air of antique wisdom, the pieces joined at the base in chaotic harmony. The name comes from the mathematical term, “radical axis”, and also means root in Latin. The innovative concept that it is, you might even be tempted to call it “radical”. Whatever you call it, have fun. The key word here is “sprout”.

At first glance, this puzzle by Kennet Walker of Rivermore, California doesn’t seem un-lockable. The five pieces, however, can most certainly be taken apart. Putting them back together, however, is a whole new problem in itself. My suggestion for solving this puzzle would be to not apply too much pressure. Solve it or not, the five pieces exude a kind of elegance, spiraling into a comfortable fit in the palm of your hand. The key word is “spiral”.

We have created a puzzle that takes on a spherical shape of an astronmical model composed of a planet and its surrounding ring. The planet positioned tightly inside the ring looks as if it cannot be taken out, and all you can do with it is rotate it on its axis. Or is this really the case? The theme of the puzzle is “heaven” and was created by Oskar or The Netherlands.

At first glance, it looks as if there is only one ring hanging from the grid but there are in fact, two rings attached with a magnetic force. Can you separate the rings from the grid and return them to their original positions? After you conquer that, next, try also to fit the two rings ar the four-crossing point on the grid indicated by the numbers. The level of difficulty increases as players aim for crossings with higher numbers. Theme: “Magnetism”. An ambitious product by Oskar packed with multiple problems to be solved.

The grooves engraved in the two rotating boards are called “logarithmic spirals”. These Two grooves always cross at right angles, and a square hole is formed at their intersection. The goal of this puzzle is to remove the helix ring that goes through that hole. The inspiration of this puzzle is the morning glory. The puzzle was designed to look like a bud that comes into bloom with twining tendrils. The original concept dates back to 1990, but it has been enhanced with the addition of several tricky features. The theme of this puzzle is “Flower”.

I came up with the idea for this puzzle when I was 19 years old. It just came to me during a stroll home in the snow, truly a creation of my youth. Unfortunately, saying anything here about its construction would give away how to solve it. I certainly can’t disappoint the fans that have come to expect frustratingly difficult puzzle from me. Besides, the fans that refuse to accept any link of hint are those who make me the happiest! The key word is “needle”.

The early 20th century witnessed a kind of puzzle boom, which in 1905 gave birth to an absurdly simple looking puzzle known as the “Devil’s Claws.” We were surprised at how nicely this new version turned out after deciding to revise the original. Don’t let the smooth looks of this one fool you, you may become one of those who let frustration take over, and leave this puzzle forever unsolved. Dedicated to the true puzzler! Serhiy Grabarchuk is a famous Ukrainian puzzle designer who lives in Uzhgorod. The puzzle depicted on the piece of drawing that he sent me looked like a strange adornment weaved into a “coiffure” design.
